They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but apparently, you can get a woodland manager onto a horse!
Most of you know that around here, the horses usually get more attention from the wife than I do. But after a long day managing the coppice—chopping firewood, and lighting hot tubs—I was granted a rare privilege: a gentle wander on the legendary Teddy.
This was a massive moment for me. Because of a spine injury, I haven’t been in the saddle for over 20 years. Being back up there, feeling the rhythm of a horse again, was the ultimate way to hit the 'pause' button.
Why the long face? (We’re joking, he’s gorgeous!)
While we don't offer riding lessons or treks here at Emlyn’s Coppice, our four-legged neighbors are a huge part of the vibe. There is something incredibly grounding about watching them graze in the paddocks next to the pods while you’re:
Sipping a morning brew in the private garden of Offa.
Stargazing from the wood-fired hot tub at Ayr.
Warming up in the private Finnish sauna at Orme after a day of exploring the North Wales coast.
