Once Holmbridge’s original village post office, this detached cottage has been lovingly restored to bring together cosy charm, modern comfort and generous space across three characterful floors. Long chats in the covered hot tub, slow mornings with coffee and countryside views and unhurried evenings that drift from dinner to laughter are what this house was made for. Tucked in the Holmfirth area with scenic walks moments away and a friendly country pub opposite, it makes unwinding feel wonderfully easy.

Inside, warm textures and soft light meet thoughtful touches at every turn. An inviting living space sets the tone for relaxed days, with an electric fire for a gentle glow, a Smart TV for film nights and Wi-Fi to keep everyone connected. We designed the layout for sociable stays, so conversation flows just as easily as the kettle. Original details nod to the building’s past while fresh finishes keep everything calm and uncluttered.
The kitchen is the heart of the house and it is ready for proper cooking. An electric oven and hob, air fryer and microwave sit alongside a coffee machine and kettle for first cups at sunrise and after-dinner refills. A dishwasher, two fridges, an undercounter freezer and a washing machine keep life simple when you settle in for a few days. Gather around the table for a leisurely brunch or go all in on a Sunday roast. There is space for everyone to pitch in and plenty of room for tasting, chatting and second helpings.
Sleeping arrangements suit groups who like both together time and privacy. Across four comfortable bedrooms, up to ten guests can spread out without a squeeze. A generous family room offers one kingsize and two singles, joined by two kingsize bedrooms and a peaceful queensize. Two en-suite shower rooms and a main bathroom make mornings smooth, and upstairs windows frame hillside and church views that change beautifully with the light.
Outdoors, the covered hot tub and the private sauna are the stars of the show. Sink into warm bubbles after a day on the trails or turn the sauna into an easygoing spa session. Ample parking makes arrivals simple, with a bay for two cars, space at the front of the house and permission for two more across at the pub. Three dogs are welcome here, so four-legged companions can settle by your feet after muddy rambles and well-earned treats.
Holmbridge feels like a breath out the moment you arrive. The Pickled Pheasant sits just over the road for good food and an easy pint, while quiet lanes and stone cottages set a gentle pace. From the door you can join waymarked paths that loop around Digley and Brownhill Reservoirs, where big skies and rolling hills invite lingering photo stops and unrushed picnics. As dusk settles, dark skies make stargazing a simple pleasure you will remember long after you head home.
Holmfirth is close enough for a flat stroll of around half an hour or a quick drive when you fancy shops, cafés and restaurants. Vineyard visits, valley viewpoints and friendly local spots lend each day a different rhythm.
