Welcome to Cynynion Uchaf Farmhouse, our family home on the Welsh Borders where countryside calm and genuine hospitality come first. Set within the grounds of a working farm, the house has stood since the 1700s offering character, beams, open plan kitchen diner and log burner, with wide skies, rolling fields and stunning views over England and Wales.

Sustainability matters to us, so the farmhouse is warmed with a biomass system and supported by solar power. The rhythm of the farm shapes the days, and you will notice it in the birdsong at dawn, the soft bleat of sheep across the fields and the dark night skies. You can switch off here. You can watch the weather drift over the hills, sit with a book and a cup of tea, or gather together by the fire after a day out.

Food brings people together and our kitchen is very well equipped for self catering. We enjoy cooking for guests and if you prefer to settle straight in, we can deliver hearty farmhouse meals to the door such as slow-cooked beef or lamb from our own stock when available, generous casseroles and other choices. Tell us what you like and we will do our best to help.

This is a place for families and friends to be together. Multi‑generational stays work well, and dogs are welcome too, as long as leads are used around the farm. You will find space to linger in the garden, quiet corners for a chat, and room to spread out without losing that sense of being under one roof. We aim for comfort that feels natural rather than fussy, and a pace that lets you breathe.

You are well placed here for exploring. Step out on country paths from the gate, join Offa’s Dyke nearby, or head to Oswestry for independent shops and a good pub lunch. Llangollen, Shrewsbury and Chester are within easy reach. Castles, canals, waterfalls and wide open hills sit close enough for a day trip, then you can come back to the stillness of the farmhouse as the sun slips behind the ridge.
